FISH FRY

Fish Fry or Masala fish is a mouth-watering and very tempting fried fish recipe made using fresh fish pieces coming out straight from fresh waters. The best fish fry recipe where we need to marinate the coated masala fish pieces and then shallow fry them until they turn soft and crisp. Here I used rohu fish but you can use any type of fish like white pomfret or mackerel to prepare the fish fry.  This is rohu fish fry recipe though simple is sure to hit your taste buds. There are other methods to fry fish too. Rava fried fish is the most common fish recipe that you will find in every Goans house. Try out this easy peasy fish fry which get ready quickly and tastes heavenly.

INGREDIENTS:
5-7 Fish pieces
For Marination:
½ teaspoon Turmeric Powder
1 Lemon Juice
1 teaspoon Salt
Other Ingredients:
3 teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
½ teaspoon Turmeric Powder
1 teaspoon Coriander Powder
1 teaspoon roasted Cumin Powder
½ teaspoon Black Pepper Powder
1 teaspoon Kashmiri Chilli Powder
1 teaspoon Garam Masala
Salt as needed
1 teaspoon Ginger-Garlic Paste
2-3 teaspoon Water
3 tablespoon oil for shallow frying
2-3 tablespoon Rava/ Semolina for coating the fish
For garnishing and serving:
2-3 Lemon Wedges
Freshly chopped Coriander
Few Onion slices
 METHOD:
Marinate The Fish:
STEP 1 – Wash and clean the fish pieces under running tap water.
STEP 2 – Apply turmeric powder and salt to the fish pieces and rest it for few minutes. Approximately 5-10 minutes.
How to proceed:
STEP 1 – After 10 minutes, if there is still any unwanted smell, then apply lemon juice on it and keep for more 2-3 minutes.
STEP 2 – Wash the fish under tap water and keep them aside.
STEP 3 – In a mixing bowl, add all the spice powders and mix well.
Add 2-3 teaspoon water. Don’t make it too watery. Make a thick paste.
STEP 4 – Apply the spice mixture on fish pieces and coat well with the masala mixture.
STEP 5 – Spread rava in a plate and keep ready on your kitchen counter.
STEP 6 – Coat fish evenly using rava. Keep it aside for 20-25 minutes.
STEP 7 – Heat 2-3 tablespoon oil in a wide fry pan.
Slide 2-3 fish pieces in it and shallow fry them on medium flame.
Don’t over crowd the pan.
STEP 8 – Cook them for 4-5 minutes and then carefully flip and cook from the other side. Each side should be shallow fried which makes the cover crispy.
STEP 9 – Take out the fish, drain excess oil on a kitchen towel, similarly shallow fry the rest of the fish and serve hot.
Sprinkle some lemon juice while serving and serve with onion rings.
