BESAN LADDOO - 3

Besan laddoo is a delicious Indian sweet for special occasions and for festivals like Diwali. This recipe is shared with me by one of my Fb friend. Very popular laddoo made from gram flour, powdered sugar and clarified butter. It might be known by various names but this delicious laddoos of special and sweetened besan famous all the country. I have already shared one of my version of besan laddoo with some different measurements and a slight difference in procedure. It will look so irresistible at this stage that you would just want to pop it into your mouth …!!! That’s when the laddoo is ready. Hope you like it. So here is my recipe with step by step pictures.
INGREDIENTS:

2 Cup Besan / Chickpea Flour

½ Cup Desi Ghee

1 Cup Powder Sugar

2 tablespoon Mix Nuts, sliced

¼ teaspoon Cardamom Powder

2-3 tablespoon Milk

For Garnishing:

Few Cashews, sliced and Raisins

METHOD:

STEP 1 - Heat a pan in a heavy based pan over low flame. Add ghee in it and melt it.

STEP 2 – When ghee starts melting, add sieved gram flour in it and mix well with a spatula and roast it well.

STEP 3 – Roast it over low flame until it turns golden brown, stirring continuously.
When it is roasted properly, you will get the nice aroma from it.
It will take about 30-35 minutes.[see notes]

STEP 4 – Turn off the heat, sprinkle 2-3 tablespoon milk over it and keep it aside till it cool down completely.

STEP 5 – After 4-5 hours, when it is cooled, transfer it in another bowl or large plate, add powder sugar, cardamom powder and sliced nuts in it and mix it very well.
Mix until sugar is properly blended with roasted flour and mixture turns smooth.

Add some dry nuts chopped finely in it and mix it well.

STEP 6 – Divide the mixture in to equal portions

and roll them with your hands.

STEP 7 – Shape them and garnish laddoos with sliced cashews or raisins. Repeat the same and make all the laddoos and keep them on a plate.

Serve with dry snacks during festivals like Diwali or you can store them in an airtight container for further use.
You can make them and serve as a snack to celebrate any occasion.

NOTES: *When you start roasting gram flour with ghee, it will thicken and hard to mix first. After some time [4-5 minutes], it will start melting.
