GULAB JAMUN TRIFLE

Gulab Jamun Trifle is a layered dessert with gulab jamun , custard and whipped cream and garnished with chopped nuts/ pistachios. Trifle is one of the dessert recipes I wanted to prepare for a long time. I had some gulab jamuns lying in fridge so thought of making this yummy dessert. Holi  is just round the corner and it’s time to start planning our menu and desserts for holi. This is the festival of colours and celebrated with lots of sweets and savoury snacks. Food plays an important role in celebrations. Whether it be the main meal, snacks or drinks, we are always thinking and planning the next meal. No celebration is complete without a touch of sweet dishes. Desserts in general are the highlight of every festival, they are the most popular and most awaited dishes. This Holi I thought it would be fun to put a twist on the traditional, much loved classic dessert gulab jamun. Gulab Jamuns are milk dumplings that are fried and then dunked in simple sugar syrup. They are a classic dessert that you can find at any South Asian eatery. To put a fun twist on the classic, I cut the gulab jamuns in small pieces and layered them with custard and topped with whipped cream and garnished with pistachio silvers. You can add any flavoured custard of your choice. Your guests and friends will adore you for the twist on the classic dessert. You can make these ahead of time and set them in refrigerator and you can spend less time in your kitchen and more time with your friends and family. So give try to this simple yet delicious Gulab Jamun Trifle this Holi and double the celebration mood. This is the best party dessert to prepare if you have lot of gulab jamuns.
