ONION RAITA

Onion Raita is one of the side dish recipe mostly served with Pulao, Biryani. The combination of biryani, pulao and raita is like match made in heaven and I cannot imagine eating biryani without raita. There are many variations of this onion raita but this is very simple and with very few ingredients. The variations include onion-tomato raita, onion- cucumber raita, onion-mint raita, etc. But today I am sharing simple onion raita which is the best side dish for biryani.

INGREDIENTS:

½ Cup Onion [thinly sliced/ cut into cubes]

1 Cup Thick Fresh Yoghurt

2 Green Chilies

½ teaspoon Coriander, chopped finely

Salt

METHOD:

STEP 1 -  Wash onions. Peel them, rinse again and then slice. Wash green chilies, coriander and then chop them.

STEP 2 – Add yoghurt to a bowl and add salt.

STEP 3 – Add onion, green chilies and coriander to the yoghurt and serve with pulao or biryani.

Serve this onion raita with pulao, biryani as a side dish and enjoy.

NOTE- *1 tsp ginger juice, few drops of lemon juice and 2 mint leaves can be added.

*You can add a pinch of chaat masala or cumin powder.
*Choose thick yogurt for making raita and blend it well with hand whisker and then use.
