DAL METHI

Sometimes, simple recipe taste more awesome than the elaborate ones!! This is one such examples. A very easy recipe combining iron-rich fenugreek leaves and protein-rich green-gram dal. The smell of methi-moong dal sabzi bubbling on the stove will draw your family to the table!
Delicious yet simple dal- methi can go with chapati/ bhakri or simple varan-bhat. The slight bitterness of the fenugreek leaves gets balanced with the subtle sweetness of moong lentils.

INGREDIENTS:
1 bunch Fresh fenugreek [ मेथी ]
1 small Onion, chopped
1/2 teaspoon Garlic paste
2-3 Green Chillies, chopped
1/4 teaspoon Cumin Seeds 

1/4 teaspoon Mustard seeds 
1-1/2 tablespoon Oil
1/2 teaspoon Turmeric Powder[haldi]
Salt as per taste
1/2 Cup Moong Dal, soaked for half an hour (without cover )


 

METHOD:

STEP 1 - Soak the moong dal for half an hour . 


STEP 2 - Wash the methi leaves and chop finely . 

STEP 3 - Now take a pan ,put on gas and add some oil and crackle cumin-mustard in it . 
STEP 4 - Add chopped onion ,garlic paste and chopped chilles . Saute it for a minute and add turmeric ,salt to it .

STEP 5 - Now add methi leaves to it . 

STEP 6 - Roast it for just 2 minutes and add moong dal and mix well . 

STEP 7 - Cook for another 3-5 minutes.
Check the dal if cooked then put off the gas and sprinkle some fresh coriander . 
  Ready to eat with chappati , bhakri ....... enjoy
