CHOCOLATE MOUSSE

Mousse means foam in French, which implies the airy texture this dessert should have. Basically, the lightness of the mousse is dependent on the ratio of whipped cream to the other ingredients. This is a good, basic recipe that my guests always love.
This chocolate mousse recipe is chock full of delicious, little-bit-naughty ingredients. The middle of the week is a very good time to try out this tasty treat. It's the perfect pick-me-up, especially if you're into chocolate, and let's face it, who isn't? Indulge in a to-die-for dessert that’s made with just with four ingredients! It’s what makes the world go round, especially for my girls, they’d go mad for this. This is also a good one to do with the kids, as they can get involved in all the preparations.
Eggless chocolate mousse has nice light, airy and smooth texture. We have used real chocolate that just brings out the chocolate flavour. It is very chocolaty and perfect for chocolate lovers. There is no gelatin in the mousse, so it is purely vegetarian chocolate mousse. It is kind of heavy dessert because of cream in it. So adjust the serving size accordingly. It is very easy and quick to make. If making for special guests then make ahead of time and let the refrigerator do its work. And when you are ready serve it just by popping them out from fridge. And your guests will be impressed. Few things that you need to keep in mind while making this mousse. You have to be careful while melting chocolate. Because chocolate burns very fast and burned chocolate does not taste good at all. Other thing is that be careful while whipping the cream, if you over whip the cream it will get curdled.

INGREDIENTS:

200 gms Dark Chocolate Compound [ Semi-sweet]

3/4 cup Unwhipped Cream
1 cup Whipped Cream
8-10 Oreo Cookies

1 Tbsp Butter

Sprinkles/ Cherries /Oreo Cookies [for garnishing ]

METHOD :

STEP 1 – First melt the dark chocolate with ¾ cup unwhipped cream in microwave for 1 minute on 60 degrees Celsius. Be careful while melting, after every 30 seconds remove the container ,just give one stir and keep again in microwave. Set it aside till it comes to room temperature.

STEP 2 – Crush the oreo cookies roughly in mixer and add butter to it and mix well. Put this mix in the glasses at the bottom.

STEP 3 – Now whip the cream  till soft peaks  with a beater .

STEP 4 – Add the chocolate mixture into the whipped cream and just mix by cut and fold method. Let it set in the refrigerator for just 15 minutes.

STEP 5 – Now pour it in the piping bag and pipe in your glasses over the oreo mixture.

STEP 6 – Garnish it with the whipped cream and decorate with chocolate and cherries.

STEP 7 – Let the mousse glasses cool  for 10-15 minutes in refrigerator before serving.

                                                                 Serve chilled.

NOTE: 1. You can use shot glasses for serving .

             2. For decoration of chocolate- melt chocolate for 1 minute at 40 degrees Celsius in microwave or by double boiler method. Pour it in a piping bag with a small cut and pipe out desired shapes on a silver or butter paper. Keep it in refrigerator for approximately 15 minutes and remove gently from the foil.
